The Southern Company (NYSE: SO) is a regulated electric and gas utility holding company headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, serving approximately 8.7 million customers across the southeastern United States. Q1 2026 adjusted EPS reached $1.32, broad-based growth led heavily by data centers and large-load customers. Southern has 23 GW of contracted or late-stage large-load demand across its electric utilities, over 11 GW of fully contracted large-load agreements (+1.9 GW in two months from new hyperscaler contracts), and a prospective pipeline of more than 75 GW of large-load interest. Data center usage rose 42% YoY in Q1, and the company increased its quarterly dividend for the 25th consecutive year to $0.76/share.
