Frontier Mining, a Plano, Texas-based ASIC miner hosting and operational management firm, traces its institutional roots to DCG Technical Solutions' colocation business launched in the early 2000s at high-tier data centers in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. DCG grew into a managed service provider and private cloud hosting firm recognized among California's top MSPs before Frontier's founders spun out a blockchain-specific operation in late 2017 to fill what they saw as a gap in professional, institutionally oriented data center management for Bitcoin mining. By 2018, Frontier had formalized a service model covering site development, networking, machine installation, staffing, and long-term facility management for commercial mining operators.
The company's operational management service stack runs from greenfield site selection through ongoing facility maintenance. Under its Infrastructure Ops banner, Frontier Mining handles strategic site selection, site design and vendor procurement (covering containers, transformers, and switchgear), network deployment under its proprietary Frontier Standard Network Design framework, site commissioning governed by a Site Readiness checklist, and post-deployment facility operations staffed by locally sourced on-site technicians. A separate ASIC Miner Hosting tier preserves client ownership and control of machines while Frontier manages power, space, and IT operations. A third service track covers high-performance computing workloads including large language models (LLMs), VFX rendering, and deep learning, extending the company's compute hosting capabilities beyond Bitcoin mining infrastructure.
Frontier Mining manages more than 300 megawatts of machines for public and institutional clients across 13 custom-built sites in North America. The geographic footprint spans twelve jurisdictions: Colorado, Pennsylvania, Texas, South Carolina, New York, California, Ohio, Georgia, North Dakota, Montana, and the Canadian province of Alberta, with sites weighted toward regions offering ample or underutilized renewable energy. Each client receives weekly performance reports and real-time access to miner performance dashboards. The company stated a target of surpassing 500 megawatts of managed capacity by end of 2023.
