Business Description

Cointelegraph, founded in 2013 and headquartered in New York, is an independent digital media outlet covering blockchain technology, cryptocurrency markets, digital assets, NFTs, and emerging fintech, publishing daily news, analysis, and price coverage to a readership spanning more than 190 countries.

The publication operates across news, markets, features, educational content, and multimedia verticals, with editorial oversight from journalists who have worked at The Economist, Forbes, The Motley Fool, and TNW. The newsroom is globally distributed, with team members based in more than 50 countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Italy, France, Israel, Australia, Canada, Brazil, and the United Arab Emirates. Content is published in 11 languages, with dedicated editions in Japanese, Spanish, German, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese.

George Givishvili, who previously served as Chief Marketing Officer at Bitfury and CEO of VBET Ukraine, became Cointelegraph's CEO in January 2023. The company's management layer includes executives with backgrounds at PwC and major international financial institutions, spanning consulting, data management, and technology operations. Staff headcount is reported at approximately 286 across all markets.

Beyond editorial publishing, Cointelegraph operates two commercial product lines. Cointelegraph Markets Pro is a paid data intelligence platform priced at $99 per month that surfaces algorithmic price signals, including the proprietary VORTECS™ Score, which compares current market conditions against historical patterns across sentiment, tweet volume, and trading volume, and NewsQuakes™ alerts, which flag historically price-moving news events in real time. The second product, Cointelegraph FORMULA, is a full-service crypto marketing agency bundling display advertising, sponsored content, video, PR, and influencer marketing for Web3 brands seeking access to Cointelegraph's distribution infrastructure.

At its 2025 peak in July, the platform recorded approximately 8.08 million monthly visits. In October 2025, Cointelegraph experienced a sharp contraction in Google organic search visibility. Ahrefs and SEMrush tracked declines of 65% to 98%, coinciding with the completion of Google's Spam Update and the subsequent removal of Cointelegraph's iGaming/casino directory section. By February 2026, total measured traffic had fallen to approximately 1.26 million monthly visits, with direct traffic accounting for roughly 75% of inbound sessions.

In July 2022, Luna Media Corporation (founded by PR executive Nikita Sachdev) acquired the Cointelegraph MENA regional franchise, extending the publication's commercial footprint across the Middle East and North Africa under a licensed model. The publication's near-term focus is on rebuilding Google organic search rankings lost in the October 2025 visibility collapse while sustaining its Markets Pro subscriber base and FORMULA agency revenues.
