GREENTECH Technologies AG, founded in 2022 and headquartered in Zug, Switzerland, designs and manufactures modular immersion-cooled data centers engineered to capture waste heat from Bitcoin ASIC operations and redirect it into commercial greenhouses, district heating networks, and other large-scale industrial thermal applications.
The company's core hardware platform, the GREENBOX, is a self-contained, containerized mining unit that cools ASIC chips by submerging them in dielectric fluid rather than air, delivering residual heat to end users at 58, 60 degrees Celsius. The system achieves a power usage effectiveness (PUE) of 1.02, recovers up to 97% of thermal output as usable heat, and operates without fan noise, a characteristic that expands deployment options to noise-sensitive sites such as urban district heating plants and horticultural complexes. A second-generation model, GREENBOX 2.0, with 1.8 MW of heat output capacity (approximately double the first generation), entered serial production in the Netherlands in summer 2022.
GREENTECH's primary documented deployment covers a Dutch pepper producer operating a 10-hectare greenhouse previously dependent on a 2 MW combined heat-and-power (CHP) unit and a gas boiler. After installing a GREENBOX adjacent to the CHP plant and integrating both systems, the operator recorded 930,014 cubic meters of natural gas displaced by sustainable heat (30.1% of total site heating demand), a 1,674-tonne reduction in CO₂ emissions, and an 80% decrease in electricity costs. Immersion cooling further enabled 86% overclocking of the installed ASIC fleet, while demand-response participation generated more than €73 per hour in additional revenue for the site.
GREENTECH's commercial model positions the GREENBOX as a drop-in replacement or supplement for gas-fired boilers, allowing clients to layer multiple income streams: Bitcoin mining proceeds, heat sales to industrial off-takers, spot-market energy arbitrage, and demand-response payments from grid operators. The company has reported international inquiries for district heating integration beyond its initial horticulture base. Target verticals span commercial horticulture, district heating networks, municipal utilities, hospitals, universities, and waste management facilities across European markets.
The company traces its origins to a partnership between Sustainable Data Farming (a Dutch predecessor entity) and the Swiss corporate vehicle registered in Zug. Jelmer ten Wolde serves as CEO and co-founder; Dan Odum is listed as founder and chief technology officer.
